Taking it Further In Adrenaline Rushes with Big Surf Waves

All surfers really want big waves to ride. You should know that there is one discipline that is included in surfing called Big Wave Surfing. This is a variation you should never think about unless you are really experienced. People will paddle or alternatively be towed towards really big waves with their height being a minimum of 20 feet. They will usually ride surf boards that are labeled with the names Rhino Chasers or Guns. When you surf big waves all becomes really complex. Board size has to adapt to wave size. Even techniques used are different when compared with regular surfing. Professional big wave surfers use different boards that are larger and longer in order to be able to paddle fast and have good stability. The downside given is reduced maneuverability combined with a surfing speed that is lower.

When we refer to big surf waves we need to also talk about Tow in Surfing. Darrick Doerner, Laird Hamilton and Buzzy Kerbox are the men responsible for creating this sport in 1992. These two activities are really distinct although we see a lot of riders taking part in both. Tow in Surfing also involves the use of a jet ski in order to tow the surfer towards the ocean. Thanks to Tow in Surfing surfers managed to ride huge waves, higher than 50 feet.

If you are now thinking about surfing really big waves you need to also realize that it is definitely dangerous. A wave like this can put you under water at around 50 feet. When the surfer recovers there is a need to quickly see where up is and swim out. Water pressure is capable of having huge impact on surfers. We can be faced with severe injuries and even death in the event that you are not careful. The main risk is to stay underwater and be kept there by 2 or even more consecutive waves. Surviving in such conditions is really difficult. Even surfers that are experienced can have problems.
